Message sent to emergency contacts:
It lists 4 loations the 1st and 4th were the lodge, the 2nd was near where I fall (I did not slide down the hill), the 3rd was at the top of the hill more than a mile away.
I was curious why they indicated 3 different positions, because I was in the same position for several minutes before I started skiing toward the lodge, so I tried to find an explination. I was never near the location at the top of the hill.
I had an apple app which showed a similar configuration, but it doesn't work any more.
It takes four GPS satellites to calculate a precise location on the Earth using the Global Positioning System: three to determine a position on the Earth, and one to adjust for the error in the receiver's clock.
If the call has been made, but you don’t need emergency services, don’t hang up. Wait until a responder answers, then explain that you don’t need help. After that, your watch asks if you still want to send a text message to your emergency contacts. Tap No if you want to cancel the text.
I thought I had canceled and didn't notice call went thru and they were leaving a voice mail.

My watch also started a countdown 10 9 8 ..., but I couldn't see what it was about.
I'm interested in GPS mapping and was an EMT, so wanted to understand this.
If the GPS was only using a few satellites in the SouthWest I can see where it would have trouble pinpointing the location, but a typical satellite configuration would use satelites spread around the compass.
They can detect satellites 15

I couldn't find anything like it on the Internet either.
With 31 active satellites able to view more than 1/4 of the planet at any time, at least seven signals should be available to a GPS receiver located outdoors more than 99% of the time, with up to 12 visible at any given time.
