Evernote is a note filing system that synchronizes you notes between all your devices, desktop or laptop computers, phone, tablet and the web. It has evolved into the standard note system for mobile users.

Structure
You can create a 3 level hierarchy
Stacks
1. File new notebook
   Rt click notebook > Add to Stack >New stack
2. (Drag one notebook on top of another to create a stack)
      It will create a stack with the name of the notebook you dragged to and put that
      notebook in the stack along with the one you dragged.
  Notebooks (File > New notebook)
    Notes (Click  or File > New notebook)
 
 You can also put tags (keywords) in notes. (Click )
 Tags are more flexible than notebooks because one note can have many tags,
 but can only be in one notebook.

 
 Some users only use one of the above, notebooks or stacks or tags.
 
 
Viewing - Desktop        
  Click on Notes in sidebar to go home     Notes
  Click  to change views to list, card view, snippets, ...
  Click  to select by tags ...
  Click on All Notes to get a hierarchal list of stacks and notebooks
  
  Click on Atlas in the sidebar to list notes by location.
    Evernote gets the location from your IP address, GPS or 3G cell tower.
    You must turn on location services in settings

It seems as if the Evernote company has always been in trouble but this month we've learned that it's shed several key people. That includes its Chief Technology Officer, Anirban Kundu and its Chief Financial Officer Vincent Toolan.

Given that this is a software company that is also trying to raise investment money, these are two crucial roles to be vacated. Hopefully the company will be fine and in which case regard the following as sensible advice for just backing up your data.

If the firm ever isn't okay, though, then you may need to get your notes out of Evernote and potentially in a hurry. Officially that's easy. Evernote has long made it simple to export your notes.

Only, there are devils in many different details and to get all of the data both out of Evernote and into somewhere else that you can actually use it is a bigger task than the company suggests.

At Evernote Promises To Fix A Long List Of Problems..| Forbes JAN 2019 they say,
The CEO of Evernote, Ian Small, says that he’s committed to fixing a long list of problems with the note-taking app this year. In 2018, the company cut 15 percent of its staff and lost many top executives as a result of these issues.
