The kitchen/livingroom wall heater may not work for several reasons.

Troubleshooting:
1. If the Ecobee display is blank it could be
a. The power cord for the controller behind the TV is unpaged. Plug it in.
b. There is a power outage. Power usually comes back on within a hour or so.
If it does not come back on See Backup Thermostat

2. If the temperature setting the ecobee is higher than the room temperature but the heater is not on (there may also be a message on the ecobee saying the heater does not seem to be working).
It could be:
A. The pilot light went out or.
Check the pilot light.

Open the heater door at the bottom in the living room and see if you can hear a hissing from the burning pilot light. You should be able to see it by getting your head on the floor and looking up behind the metal plate in the picture below and see a flame.

If there is no flame go to relighting the pilot light below.

Relighting the Heater Pilot lite:
If the pilot light gets blown out the gas will be shut off at a valve under the heater. Open the door in the bottom section of the living room side of the heater. The pilot light is hard to see; You have to look up from the floor to see it behind the metal cross piece. You will see the bottom of the flame and hear a hissing if it is on.

  1. Turn the knob to Pilot, push it in and hold it in. Click on image to enlarge.
  2. Light the pilot at the end of the gas tube (upper right) with a long fireplace match or butane BBQ grill lighter (check for them over the wood stove).
  3. Keep the knob pushed in for about 1 minutes. When the sensor (Power generator/thermocouple) gets old or is vary cold it may require 2 minutes
  4. Turn the knob to on.
  5. The pilot should stay on. If not repeat step 1-3 holding the knob in a little longer.
If it doesn't stay on it is probably a bad thermocouple/thermopile/Power generator. You can get a replacement at Swigard's hardware in Tahoe City. Get a universal 600/750 millivolt Power Generator. It is like a thermacouple which generates power. See gas heater systems.

Toggle the switch from Ecobee to Emerson and Back to Ecobee.
