The FBI collects and publishes hate crime data but reporting is voluntary and only about 80% of agencies submit data. Compliance changes from year to year. The data is also an undercount: fewer than half of hate crime victims report to police, according to the FBIÕs National Crime Victimization Survey.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported single-bias anti-Jewish hate crime incidents in the country sharply rose by more than 37% in 2022 and comprised more than half of all religion-based hate crimes in 2022.
Jews make up around 2 percent of the U.S. population. Yet, in 2022, according to the FBI data, reported antisemitic hate crime incidents accounted for 9.6 percent of all hate crimes.

The increase of anti-Jewish attacks may have something to do with Twitter/X not removing hateful conduct accounts or the heat-up of the Hamas Israeli conflict.

Dress code affects hate crimes

The number of hate crimes per million for Sikhs is 80-100 times higher than that for Hindus.
Both religious groups in India, but Sikhs stand out because of their head turbans.

According to one researcher, 69 percent of Muslim women who wore hijab reported at least one incident of discrimination; for those who did not wear hijab, it was 29 percent.
The FBI does not track hate crimes by gender.) But studies suggest that women, particularly those who wear hijab or niqab, shoulder a unique burden.

The FBI released detailed data on over 11 million criminal offenses reported to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, largely through the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the Summary Reporting System (SRS).
law enforcement agency participation significantly increased, resulting in 14,631 law enforcement agencies, with a population coverage of 91.7% submitting incident reports.
