Most articles had something like the following text and table:
Over the first year of life, your baby will sleep and nap a lot—from 12 up to 18 hours a day. The amount of sleep an infant gets at any one stretch of time is mostly ruled by hunger. Newborns will wake up and want to be fed about every 3-4 hours at first. Do not let your newborn sleep longer than 5 hours at a time in the first 5-6 weeks.

A few quotes from the links below:

"Babies who sleep better in the day learn how to go longer between feedings, and therefore sleep better at night. The phrase "sleep begets sleep" is a reminder that babies need to sleep both day and night."
Your Baby at 1 Week | Patient Education | UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital

"Once a baby begins to regularly sleep through the night, parents are often unhappy when the baby starts to wake up at night again. This often happens at about 6 months old. This is often a normal part of development called separation anxiety. This is when a baby does not understand that separations are short-term (temporary)."

"Most babies don’t start sleeping through the night (6 to 8 hours) until at least 3 months of age. But this can vary a lot. Some babies don’t sleep through the night until closer to 1 year. In most cases, your baby will wake up and be ready to eat at least every 3 hours. "

"Swaddling can make a baby feel safe and help him or her fall asleep.
When you swaddle, give your baby enough room to move his or her hips and legs. The legs should be able to bend up and out at the hips. Don’t place your baby’s legs so that they are held together and straight down. This raises the risk that the hip joints won’t grow and develop correctly.
Don’t use swaddling if your baby is 2 months or older, or if your baby can roll over on his or her own. Swaddling may raise the risk for SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) if the swaddled baby rolls onto his or her stomach."

After the newborn period, most experts recommend allowing your baby to become sleepy in your arms, then placing him or her in the bed while still awake. This way your baby learns how to go to sleep on his or her own. Playing soft music while your baby is getting sleepy is also a good way to help create a bedtime routine.
Newborn Sleep Patterns| Stanford Children's Hospital

"By age 3 to 4 months, many babies sleep at least five hours at a time. At some point during a baby's first year — every baby is different — he or she will start sleeping for about 10 hours each night."
Helping baby sleep through the night - Mayo Clinic
"When a newborn wakes up at the end of the sleep cycle, there is typically a quiet alert phase. This is a time when the baby is very still, but awake and taking in the environment. During the quiet alert time, babies may look or stare at objects, and respond to sounds and motion. This phase usually progresses to the active alert phase. This is when the baby is attentive to sounds and sights, and moves actively."
Newborn Sleep Patterns | Johns Hopkins Medicine

"Most babies don't start sleeping through the night (6 to 8 hours) without waking until they are about 3 months old, or until they weigh 12 to 13 pounds. About two-thirds of babies are able to sleep through the night on a regular basis by age 6 months."

Getting outdoors helps babies sleep:
A study at the School of Psychology, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK found that babies who slept well at night were exposed to significantly more light in the early afternoon period.
BBC NEWS | Health | Daylight 'aids baby night sleep'
In Scandinavia and Iceland (just to name two), it is common practice to nap babies outside in all seasons – even when the temperature drops well below freezing. The main reasons Nordic mothers nap their babies outside? Because, according to them, it helps their babies take better, longer naps.
