Water Valves

You can lift the levers up a bit to make them easier to turn. Don't lift more than 3-4 inches or they will come off.

Main S/O: ON - Opens the water supply and shuts the drain.
     Off - Shuts off water supply and opens the drain.

• Normal Winter configuration with inside water on. Above.
  When transitioning from summer to winter, turn the irrigation valve off inside,
  open the 2 outside drains (see Plot Layout below) and open all the outdoor faucets.
  
• To drain water if the cabin is going to be without heat in the winter, or you need to work on the plumbing:
  Turn Main shut-off OFF and Hot Water Drain ON
  (You will hear water running as water runs out of the pipes into a sump inder the house)
• Summer: Turn Irrigation ON
  When transitioning from winter to summer do the reverse of the summer to winter transition. Close the outdoor drains and faucets and turn to irrigation valve on.

Put away outdoor furniture and BBQ
Put away wind spinners and chimes by the  deck.
Sponge out or put antifreeze in the outdoor toilet bowl
Put hoses away
Put braces on deck railing 
Bring out snow shovels.
Put away chair lift pad and put stumps under the chair
Take off outdoor stove pipe
Put plywood over outdoor stove and sink
Remove sections of dog fence on north and south side of the cabin.
Close shutters on guest house and north living room window
 put door mats including guest house inside
Restock firewood on back deck and by living room stove
Remove outdoor tree flood lights and put covers over sockets
Put plexiglas  over screen/security door to deck, primairly for energy conservation but also spread the snow load.
Chair lift swing. Take off cushion.  Put logs under each end for support.

Later:
Close shutters on side of house when the snow gets deep.

Mom's 1990 closing notes Fall Cleaning

1. Knock down cobwebs all around outside of house, including upstairs deck
2. Wash upstairs deck windows & screen
3. Dust living room blinds and window ledges
4. Double Check Pots/pans rack for cleanliness (greasy skillet)
5. Hang coffee cups back on hooks under kitchen cabinet
6. Mix matched silverware: Scalloped pattern goes in drawer of teal colored cabinet outside to the right by BBQ table up against side of house.
7. Stovetop backsplash area, clean & degrease
8. Window above stovetop: clean & degrease
9. Window box above sink: wipe down shelves
10. Scrape spilled wax from kitchen table centerpiece
11. Clean top of water heater and shelf above needs dusting
12. Back bedroom Downstairs: wash king duvet cover and twin bedspread.
13. Restock kindling from outside front porch wood box, into metal container next to wood stove.
