2023-24 Spring 2023 - Permit was rejected because we claimed 4 bedrooms and the counties appraisal records showed 3 (The small upstairs bedroom wasn't counted, because you had to go thru another bedroom to get out)
May 2023 - Dale got them to update the bedroom count to 4 for the main house with the pictures form the listing. That is now fixed, the bedroom count will reflect the 4 bedrooms (max adult occupancy is 10 with unlimited children under 12).
6/3/23 - A citation for $1,500 dated 6/2/23 was posted on our front door.
6/5/23 Dale also got an email from Cheryl Cottel with the citation.
6/5/23 I got an email from Aimee C. Backovich saying we now have a permit
6/5/23 Sean got an email from Lydia McAlindin saying the permit was issued
9/13/23, Oct 30, Mar 4/24 We got notices from Cheryl saying they haven't received our payment
Mar 8/24 - We paid the $1,500 citation

There is one more thing we need to be updated that I spoke with your father about. You are listed as the Local Contact and your address in Reno is too far away for a Local Contact, the Local Contact needs to be 25 driving miles away from the STR property so that in the case of a violation they can be onsite within 60 minutes considering weather and traffic, if not this could be the difference of a $1500 citation. Could you provide us with someone who is closer to be the Local Contact for the STR?

We still have not received payment on your citation from June 2, 2023. Your STR permit requires all payments to Placer County be in good standing in order to retain your permit. Please pay this citation by Friday, November 3, 2023, or we will revoke your permit and send this citation to collections.

If you would like to pay by credit card, here are the necessary steps:

On the Placer County Community Development Resource Agency website there is a payment options page –https://www.placer.ca.gov/2840/Payment-Options. In the middle of the page is a link to “Official Payments” where an electronic payment can be made. Please ensure that the fee is invoiced in Accela and that the Accela permit (23-00153) is referenced on the payment.

We still have not received payment on the STR citation that was issued back on June 5, 2023. I had sent another payment reminder email back on 9/13/23 and again on 10/30/23 to let you know that if this matter isn’t resolved by 11/3/23, we may have to revoke the STR permit and send this matter to collections. This date has now passed and if we do not receive payment by end of this week, I will have no choice but to move forward with permit revocation. If the permit is revoked, this will last for a minimum of two years’ time in which you will not be able to Short-Term Rent this property. To resolve this matter immediately, please pay this citation by credit card, you can use this link:

Hi Cheryl - we paid the fee. I’ve attached a copy of the confirmation. Please excuse our confusion - we received the citation, but had already paid the permit fee. We contacted the STR office and were told the permit had been issued and there was not further action needed. Apparently we had paid the permit fee but the check arrived a day late, we weren’t sure if the $1500 was a late fee or a duplication. Can you please advise? We went ahead and paid the fee but it seems like it may be a mistake? Can you advise if it is a late fee for the one day delay of our permit check?

Hello McBride family,

Thank you all for reaching out on this matter. Katy has sent in payment for the citation from last year, and your STR permit is now current and in good standing.

Please note that this STR permit will need to be renewed on 6/5/24, and the annual permit fee is $306.00.

Also, every STR in Eastern Placer County is required to have a passing interior Fire Life Safety (FLS) inspection by their permit renewal date. I see that you have an inspection for this scheduled on 3/18/24 at 11am. You will also need an exterior Defensible Space inspection passed before 11/30/24. You will be able to schedule this directly with North Tahoe fire at www.ntfire.net as soon as they open their calendar when the snow melts around May 1, 2024. Please note that both inspections are good for three years. If you have any questions, please let me know. The required interior posting for your STR property is this Good Neighbor Flyer. One is to be posted in the foyer or somewhere where someone walks into the home/property and one (1) on the inside door of each bedroom. If you have not already, you will also need to pick up your exterior Bear Bin magnet or sticker for a condo with a dumpster from our Tahoe City office (775 North Lake Blvd Tahoe City) Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm.
