Leader's roles and responsibilities
Are responsible for planning the trip and carrying out the hikes,
activities and meetings.
Will let you know when and where to meet for hikes and
meetings.
Will give you driving directions to the trailheads and you can follow
us there in your
vehicles. Make own arrangements to carpool with
others.
Will make and enforce safety rules.
Will supervise cook and clean up teams
Leader's expectations of participants
Act safely, and courteously

Be a contributing part of the group/team/share
Be conditioned

6. SAFETY ISSUES ON TRAIL
Stay on trail with group
If separated from group, stay put.
Are environmental and inherent risks in hiking in the wilderness.
Blister, falls,
cuts, swim at own risk
Safety management plan in first aid and/or call 911
Inform leader if leaving group
Hydration - 2 quarts per person, sun block, mosquito repellent
Altitude symptoms - breathing, headache, dizziness, loss of appetite,
insomnia, muscles
Water purification - 1 drop iodine/pint, wait 20 min., then add
flavoring

7. FIRST AID ON TRAIL
Leaders have completed 16 hour WFA course
