Domestic Concessionaire Screening Criteria

The general questions below, along with additional outing-specific criteria, should be used to screen potential concessionaires. Once a concessionaire has been selected, the Concessionaire Agreement on the following page should be filled out in detail, approved by the Subcommittee Chair or designee (if required), and sent to the Outings office: 85 Second Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105

General Information

Guide Training and Equipment

What is the training program for guides? How much field experience with this type of outing do guides have? What type of equipment is used? How old is it? How is it maintained and checked for readiness?

Outings History and Conduct

Can other customers be contacted for reference? What special attention or accommodation is made for your group, seniors, or others with special needs?
What safety talk(s) or safety correspondence is provided by the Concessionaire to participants? If publicity materials are provided by the concessionaire to participants, do these materials make any unsupportable claims about safety?

Emergency Preparedness and Response

What are the contingency plans for equipment failure, guide incapacity, environmental hazards and weather?
