NIH/NIA - National Institute on Aging

Home Page: www.nia.nih.gov - Dr. Richard J. Hodes, Director, NIA

I built this page because I was interested in the organizational structure of the NIA and found this difficult to find at nia.nih.gov.

Research Programs (Extramural)

  • Division of Aging Biology (DAB)
Supports research and training to enhance and extend the human health span through a better understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying the aging process.
Animal Models , Genetics , Immunology , Endocrinology , Physiology , Cell Structure and Function , Metabolic Regulation , Cardiovascular Biology , Musculoskeletal Biology
  • Division of Behavioral and Social Research (BSR)
Supports basic social and behavioral research and research training on the processes of aging at both the individual and societal level.
    (1) Individual Behavioral Processes and (2) Population and Social Processes.
  • Division of Neuroscience (DN) - Marcelle Morrison-Bogorad, Ph.D., Director
Supports research and training to further the understanding of neural and behavioral processes of the aging nervous system in health and disease.
