PLACES TO VISIT
Old Town. - A general walk around the historical old-town area of Quito is a must!!! 2 to 3 hours is long enough to stroll between the various plazas, churches and colonial buildings. Ask a taxi to drop you at the Plaza Grande, it usually costs around $3 for a single journey from the new town.

Teleferico. - A cable car takes you up to the top of the Ruco Pichincha Volcano for splendid views of Quito. If the mountain is covered in cloud then try the Panecillo look out instead.

Equator. - A 1⁄2 day trip from Quito to see the official equator monument and the interesting Inti Ñan museum. Taxis usually charge $25-30 for a return trip, or the Metro bus passes on America Street.

National Museum. - Exhibits of archeological finds, ornate gold and artwork -definitely the best of Quito’s museums. Located at the Ejido Park, about 10 minutes’ walk from the Newtown.

Botanical Garden. - To escape the hustle and bustle of the city! Famed for it’s orchid greenhouse ECUAGENERA, or the BOTANICAL GARDEN at La Carolina Park

Capilla del Hombre. - Museum and art gallery celebrating Ecuador’s most famous artist, Guayasamin. Paintings depict the lifelong struggle and sorrows of the indigenous people. Highly recommended!

RECOMMENDED CAFES / RESTAURANTS Magic Bean. - Foch & Juan Leon Mera (coffee, juices, big breakfast/lunch)

Mama Clorinda. - Reina Victoria & Calama (a little touristy but serves the best of selection of typical Ecuadorian foods)

Red hot chilli peppers. - Foch & Juan Leon Mera (Mexican food)

Pims. - Panecillo (The best views in town from the top of the panecillo!)

Patio Andaluz. - Garcia Moreno N6-52 (Fine dining in a beautifully renovated colonial house in the old town area of Quito)
