Apple Recipes

Apple Crisp (makes one 9 x 13 pan)
Apples:
10 cups apples, peeled cored and sliced or largely chopped (7 or 8 apples)
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
Cinnamon and Nutmeg to taste (I like a lot of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg)

Topping:
1 1/2 cups rolled oats. "Quaker old-fashioned oats" is the same. *

1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup butter (room temp)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
Cinnamon and Nutmeg to taste (I like a lot of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg)

Preheat oven to 350
1. Take the butter out and leave it on the counter to warm
2. Peel core and cut apples
3. To apples add lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, mix and set aside
4. In a separate bowl mix oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
5. Slice butter into tablespoon size chunks then use hands to mix butter into oat mixture
6. Place apples into 9x13 inch dish
7. Cover apples with topping
8. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until top starts to brown.

The 9x13 version makes about 10 servings.
If you half the recipe you can cook it in an 8x8 baking dish

* Rolled Oats
I found the grocery store only has boxes labeled oatmeal now not rolled oats.
But, "Quaker Old fashioned Oats" is rolled oats from what I could find.
Quick oats are oats have been cut into pieces before being steamed
and rolled into thinner flakes. They are not as good for the topping here.
