Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 50% to 60% of all dementia cases.
11% of the 7.2 million Americans age 65 and older (18% of the population) are living with Alzheimer's disease in 2025.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, an estimated 7.2 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's disease in 2025. This represents about 1 in 9 people (11%) in that age group. The percentage of people with Alzheimer's dementia increases with age:
5.0% of people aged 65 to 74
13.1% of people aged 75 to 84
33.3% of people aged 85 and older
