Google announced the creation of Alphabet, mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down.

Google X:
Google X is a division which encourages people to think big and aim for breakthroughs (moonshots) instead of incremental improvements. Things like Google Glass and self-driving cars.

Stock:
Two classes of shares will continue to trade on Nasdaq as GOOGL (Class A) and GOOG (Class C).
Google split its stock in April 2014, which created the A and C shares.

Google's Market Cap of $455 Billion is number 2 behind Apple's $683 B.
It grew 15% from August 2014 to August 2015.

Google is the most visited web site with over 200 million people per month in the US and over 1 Trillion worldwide visitors. YouTube is #2 with over 184 million US visitors per month.
