Normal settings:
System Preferences > Network
Wi-Fi connected
Status: Connected and has the IP address of 192.168.1.2 (varies depending on config)

Click Advanced TCP/IP
IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.2 (varies depending on config)
Router:  192.168.1.1 (varies depending on config)
Configure IPv6: Automatically
Click on DNS
DNS Servers: 182.168.1.1 greyed out

Log into Router 192.168.1.1

 IP Address: 74.105.146.26  (Varies based on internet connection)

    Status: Active
  Device Name IP-STB1 (STB is Digital TV Software Solution Lab)
    It is in my Motorola QIP2500 set-top terminal connected to the TV
    Connection Type: Coax

    Status: Inactive (TV off), Active (TV on and access information)

Can't access internet:
Some browsers like crome will give you a status as it connects to a host
