- Circuit training involves alternating aerobic and strengthening exercises during a single session, often in a "circuit. Uses high-intensity aerobics. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise "circuit" is one completion of all prescribed exercises.
- Cross-training is a technique where you alternate exercise modes (activities) in order to use different muscles. This helps to make sure that all of your muscles get a work-out during the week and also helps to prevent overuse injuries.
- Interval training is when you alternate short burst of intense activity with less intense activity. For example, if you go to a track you can walk the straights of it and run the curves.
- HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. An enhanced form of interval training, an exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods.
- Tabata - A type of HITT training. Short, high-intensity intervals developed by Japanese professor Dr. Izumi Tabata to train Olympic speed skaters.
