- I'm not a ski tech, but I have a pair of Marker MRR race bindings. The springs are the foreward pressure. Based ont he din setting, the spring needs to be compressed to match up with one of the marks.
- The forward pressure adjustment, with those 2 screws behind the externally visible arm springs, is separate from the DIN setting screw beneath the arms. The 2 separate settings, using all 3 screws, are closely related and highly critically sensitive. Unless you've been taught how to do this properly and really know exactly what you're doing, in my opinion, for safety's sake, this is something that most people shouldn't be messing around with.
- The MRR heel is probably the most sensitive heel piece to adjust. If it isn't done correctly, the chances of it malfunctioning are greatly increased. I gave you the best advice-- let a qualified shop tech do it! Is the few bucks worth a possible injury?
- These MRR heel bindings still have a bit of a following, and are my favorites on some skis that aren't available with integrated binding systems. The combination of shorter distance between the toe and heel mounting plate screws, and the forward pressure independent of the retention setting, allows the ski to flex more freely underfoot. To me, this gives a noticeable improvement in ski feel and performance. Plus, they're light and have proven to be durable, reliable, and safe - provided of course, that they're perfectly properly set up - Ahh, Haa... There's the real catch...!
- As a Marker rep for the past 24 years, I have a great deal of experience with the MRR. It was my exclusive binding of choice on ALL of my skis until the past couple of years since the 1400 came out. As I mentioned before, the MRR is a fantastic binding, but is susceptible to mis-adjustment. The binding can be tempermental, if not adjusted correctly. There are also a few tricks, which if enacted, can assist in making sure they hold firm and still release correctly.
