Q: Is there a place to get a shower at the Packers Station?
A: No, none at the packer site or at the North Lake Campground,
but the Bisop Creek Lodge (see below) and Creekside RV Park, (760) 873-4483,
1949 South Lake Road, Bishop, CA about 7 miles from the packer station,
offer pay showers.

There are several lodges near the packers station where you could stay:

Q: What size backpack do I need if I want to do an overnight at Desolation Lake?
A: When I backpack with my friends in the Sierra Nevada I don't take a tent.
Rain showers in Aug. are usually short and not too heavy, so I use a groundcloth
with a poncho to cover me. (I don't do this in the East)
However, the Sierra Club does recommend tents for privacy.
I sometimes use just the rainfly with a fitted groundcloth (or footprint).

   I'd recommend a 2,500 in3 - 3,500 in3 pack.

Q: What kind of Latrine will we have? Updated
A: Central hand dug latrine. Tarps will be used for privacy.
No seat you have to squat.

Q: How will we handle hand washing?
A: Communal hand washing station with anti-bacterial soap.
Hand sanitizer to be available on the trail and in the kitchen.

Q: How much equipment can we bring.
A: The personal weight limit for each participant is 30 pounds in a
duffle bag for the mules plus whatever you want to carry yourself.
Bulky items like camp chairs do not have to be in a duffle.
