Measure the length of your hand towel, divide the measurement in half and add two inches. The result is the ideal distance between the counter surface and the top of the towel rack. Choosing the left or right side of the counter is up to you; consider how the rack will appear when viewed. Alternatives to a towel rack may better suit your small space. For example, a shelf above the counter for storing rolled towels, a basket on the counter surface or small-scale decorative coat hooks on the walls can all work well.
