|Bridgewater Chimney Rock Quarry|
The Stavola Bound Brook Quarry at the intersection of Thompson Avenue and Chimney Rock Road (also referred to as the Chimney Rock Quarry) is on the site of an old copper mine.
The address is 810 Thompson Ave Bound Brook, but the area is administered by Bridgewater.
It is across Chimney Rock Road from the Washington Valley Park and Chimney Rock Hawk Watch.
They provide crushed bluestone, sand, asphalt, recycled concrete, and recycled asphalt. Stavola has 8 other quarries in New Jersey.
In a Bridgewater Township Council hearing to renew their license in 2012, Stavola representatives said that
in 2012 the quarry extracted 3.12 million tons of stone.
In 2013 an underpass was constructed so Rt 22 goes under the rail spur serving the quarry.
People in the area can hear a noise and feel a vibration when they blast.
The blasts look similar to the Nexco blast on YouTube.
According to Stavola and the zip code index the quarry at 810 Thompson Ave is in Bound Brook. But, other maps show it in Bridewater (Martinsville).
